Carmen has worked professionally as a hairstylist for over 12 years and licensed for 7. She is well experienced in master hair cutting and styling, custom hair weaves, wigs, and extensions. At an early age, Carmen was confident that hair was her passion. Experimenting on friends and family early on, she knew that using her creativity to invent different looks with styling and color was in her future.
The majority of my clients have been with me for over 5 years. Establishing a personal rapport with each client is really important to me. It helps me provide superior service and customize their services to suit each client’s personality.
At a young age, Carmen used hair as a tool to help her survive as a young child. She was the third eldest of 7 children, and money was tight for her family. To contribute to her household and community, she began braiding her siblings, extended family members, and friend’s hair. As her skills increased, she discovered that her new-found talent proved useful, as she was able to earn a small profit from classmates at her high school who requested her services.
Eventually, she started her cosmetology courses during high school and ultimately earned her license in 2011. Hair has always been a part of my life no matter what my situation has been. Even when I lived in the shelter I would still service staff and residents to help me escape from the world. Hair has become therapeutic for me. I can honestly say being a stylist has saved my life.
I want my brand to be beyond hair. I want my business to be known as an active member in my community providing services that effectively help to empower those that are in need.
Carmen believes in developing a close-knit bond with her clients in order to meet the specific need of each client. When a client books an appointment with Carmen, each client receives private, undivided attention. This brings comfort to most, but especially to individuals who are experiencing hair loss from cancer, alopecia, lupus, etc. Many women in the aforementioned situations, dread the contemporary salon experience and find these visits uncomfortable because of other patrons gawking. Carmen has essentially eliminated this, through a personalized booking to assure each client gets the attention that is required for each service. Communication between Carmen and her clients is paramount, and in the end, each one leaves satisfied with every expectation met.
Mission:
To provide competitively priced products and exceptional service. To have happy customers who want to come back every other week or opportunity they get. To complete each task by allowing the mission statement to be succeeded. To accomplish every expectation that each client needs with a smile.
Goals:
- Nationwide shops that provide customized Genie Hair Wig installations and Hair Extensions available for purchase. These shops are designed with singular rooms for privatized service areas.
- Provide exceptional service to clients
- Increase customer purchases online and in salon visits every month
- Mentor-ship Programs – To provide summer courses for young teens, building skills at a young age. These young adults will also be empowered by strong experienced female stylists.
- Outreach within the community to provide a strong foundation for young women.
